they aren't similar in circuit. only they are both pulse induction.

No, but it is similar (In fact almost identical) to the "Mark Stuart Microcontroller P.I." (Geotech) for which the code is readily available.
The only differences between the two are that the "goldpic" uses an lcd meter and the "Mark stuart" is audio only.
Built properly the "Mark Stuart" one (with a couple of minor mods) is a very good little detector.
