I was going to get the Goldpic 3 for a winter project. I was wondering what this detector was designed for i.e. coins, relics or gold? Does it perform okay inland or is a beach only thing? Any information on this detector kit would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Sean

Hi Sean,
Dont!
It's a clone of Mark Stuarts "Microcontroller P.I." (Magenta still do a kit, been there, built it)
Sensitivity and depth, are, for a P.I.  pretty poor.
Go with the kit that silverdog is doing for the surf P.I.
MUCH better!

Where can I find that kit? Also, I have never built a detector before, so is it beginner friendly?

Thanks for the quick response

Sean

I'd go with the full board+components ....... bit of a steal at that price!

You'll get loadsa help on here as quite a few of us bought the pc board and have made them.

Thanks Paul. I see in his picture it looks like an underwater detector... would I be safe assuming this would easily be made for underwater use?

Thanks

Sean

Hi,
Yes, you could put it in a waterproof housing or just use it as a beach/land detector... makes no difference really.
