If you want greater response, try two coils, as used in some machines, which requires two drivers driven with the same signal.... in phase. It would double the magnetic field (and also double the Rx response???)

Take a look at  some of the double coil rigs, one coil is placed directly over the other.

The coils should be the same,  as closely as you can get them to be the same. The word IDENTICAL, comes to mind.

One coil is placed exactly over the other and each has its own driver, so if the drivers are FETs, you can drive both FETs, in parallel from the same single transistor pre-driver. In effect you double the field and focus it, somewhat.

Bear in mind, the main field direction is cross-wise to the coil, not vertically through the coil, however it is still doubled, which ever direction it may go. This is where I start losing grasp, on the theory, because two coils make the field wider and only slightly deeper, yet, there is a small vertical component, also, but weaker than the horizontal one. And to further confuse things, it is not the strength of response, that is important! The PHASE differences, with different metals, is the important signal.

Have I confused you, yet?? I think I confused myself.  Shocked

Two coils are better than one, whatever the theory.

Dear alextt4

if you have built the Goldscan and you are satisfied with its operation, please provide the final and correct schematic for all of us. this will help a lot for another ones who want to build it. I have this schematic. I don't know, is it correct or not. for example: consider 50K pot (RV6) below the SW1-b, the adjusting information isn't mentioned.

also, please provide us the detection depth of your device.

Thank you very much.

Hey! Great! Tongue

Now you are the expert! Already there are pleas for help!  Shocked

Actually I still do not know anything MUCH, about GS4, but I do know a little more, because I had to study it to answer your questions.  Grin

I would say that was great..... but you probably want more depth, right?
