Hi bernte_one, this is not the project with microcontroller. It's the first Stuart project.
I attach here the shematics for Stewart 2 with PIC but programming the microcontroller is little confusing.

Bummer.  Nothing about programing the Mico Processor in the PDF.

After more tests, i found that sensitivity to gold and silver is too low (3cm for a gold ring). It seems that using 32KHz crystal in place of 40KHz may be the origin of this defect. Originally the pulse is divided by 256 to get the 6.4ms at pin 12 , by 8 to get the 200us at pin 5 and by by 2 to get 50us at pin 7 of IC2 and triggering IC4. With 32KHz these times become longer and triggering IC4 at 62us seems too slow to detect the fast decay of signal from Gold and silver targets.
Replacing pin 7 by pin 9 of IC2 reduce this time to 31us. Making this i get remarquable better sensitivity to gold and silver (Silver ring at 15cm and Gold ring at 10 to 15 cm).

I havn't test changing other pins output: Pin 12 by Pin 13 reduce time from 8ms to 4ms, Pin 5 by Pin 6 reduce time of MOSFET activation from 250us to 125us.
Is there possible ameliorations changing this?
