Try adjusting the contrast using the pot located near the lcd connector, im not sure but i think is a 22k pot.
BTW Check the ribbon eich connets the lcd. Be sure its properly connected, i mean pin number 1 to lcd pin 1 and .... Then turn the pot slowly 'til you get the chars.

I think you mean R24, it dont was a pot in the packacke, it  was a normal 22k resistor.
The connection to the LCD where checked twice, they are ok.

Do you think its because of the normal 22k Resistor? That i dont can adjust it?

Hi Rockska
R24=22K Is POT to Adj contrast in LCD The most it has of the three pin, you can use the resistance of 22k in ***The right place*** one pin in pin3 in LCD ,The other  TO the GND, OR USE HALF=10K......To be available POT 22K.

Hey Thanks for help, with the new 22k poti its working allright now.

But now, it need some understanding.

I made 2 coils.
The Chance is beeping all the time, it makes no difference connecting a coil or not.
I dont know what to do with Barriere or Guard Intervall. Is there a little Dokumentation for this?

You will need to increase the Guard interval, until the beeping stops
Try around 35 to start with
The basket type coil is faster and you can use a lower guard interval, a basic mono loop will require a higher guard interval , maybe upto 45 even

Hi treasure hunters  Smiley

It's time to hot your soldering stations and warm-up oscilloscopes.
Andy F has released new firmware, Version 1.21 from *18.08.2011. This new version requires to make some hardware modifications.

The new software has only 3 masks for Ferrous discrimination.

3 modes od masking ferrous:

1. Light masking
2. Medium masking * probably detector will cut off some brass targets
3. Hard masking * cut-off ferrous targets, pull tabs together with nickel targets

Auto GEB removed from code to make some extra depth. Andy F has assumed that manual GEB can be done with fine trimming of BARRIER and GUARD interval settings. The range of GUARD interval was broaden. The range is from 10 to 99. Initial value is 30. For Fast Mono Coils, lower this value but take care of stability. If detector beeps rise this value coz the coil is slow. The rule is: little values - fast coils (short time constant of coil) and vice versa. Detector save current setings in EEPROM.

Newest update is here:
