its strange try another value of guard interval sometimes the lower value is not the best for discrimination. it seems the copper is been discriminate like iron.

yes, but i haven´t activated the iron mask.  Wink  my Guard intervall is 42 on my shielded networkcable Coil ...  do you mean it should be higher ??

ok, i will try another coil and higher guard intervall   Great

By the way, which detector do you use?

I want to build another PIM-2 PI detector with diskrimination

Here is the video from the PI device:

the detector that i use is a VLF technology is a TGSL that i bought from silverdog site (in march)  is very good with distance and disc about 35 cm 1 euro coin, it uses a DD coil very difficult to make , i have made 3 coils before get good results. some time  ago (September) i bought a chance kit from silverdog, and now i am disappointed because poor distance, and discrimination is not very precise, i have made 2 coils for the chance and i think its now the best it could be about 25 cm  one euro coin and discrimination mask 1 rejecting iron. i think you can make a very good in sensitivity PI detector but without discrimination, with discrimination choose VLF or another technology.

Regards
Jorge Fernandes

yes, vlf detectors are better in Diskrimination.
I use a XP Deus V2.0 Detector für Coin search. He is very sensitive to small objects.
Best thing on PI Detectors is making a easy coil. Building VLF Coils are more difficult

Today I was out with my chance Pi detector in "Russian casing"  Grin
I have made some tests in the ground, but it did not matter what I chose on "Iron Mask", he always found iron, but lost a lot in depth. So for what is the iron mask good, except that I lose deep ....  No no!

hello again
the main thing is a good coil !! and what is a good coil for chance? , in previous posts they say that a good coil for chance must be a fast coil with low capacitance for discrimination works good , in my tests i never had good discrimination is not very precise because it changes with deep and object size, i have made 2 coils and have made many tests , now i have calibrated the coil with chance i have take out turns of wire until i get guard interval 18, then i choose guard interval were the chance is stable and get good deep in my case is guard interval 30 , and it works better than i ever seen, 1 euro coin detect about 35cm deep on air. its almost ready , soon i will post some pics. i have tried many coil configurations and in all the discrimination and deep was different.

Hello Jorge,

which inductance and resistance has your coil? i am looking forward to see pictures from your Searchcoil and detector ....

Did you have a shielded coil ??

Best Time

Gerd

DD coil very difficult to make

DD coils are amongst the easiest coils to make, but you need to respect the inductance of both coils the nulling of the coil correctly and inductance are vital.
