How deep dose it go??? what size object are you looking for? Depth always depends on the size, type of metal, ground condition, and the user himself. Hope this will help you some.

Here is My version of chance-PI, and notice about coil:
only way I find for good relation of depth and discrim
was to make cc coil with ordinary pi coil for TX and TX1
in combination with spider for RX. And it vork  fine!
TX 0,8mm * 21wind on 38,5cm
TX1 0,8mm * about 7wind (not sure because number of
bucking coil depend of RX coil)
RX 0,75mm * 18+24 wind spider

Sorry mate but I don't understand your coil configuration,  and what is a CC coil? Are you sure that you do not mean a DD coil?

xavier i think he made not a mono coil configuration

he made a concentric coil wit tx and rx
he splits the coil stage in one transmit with a second bucking coil connected counterclockwise to first tx coil

and the rx coil is spider web coil with 18 turn on  24cm former or so ?  right?

would be much easier to build a DD coil  nulling is much easier
i would recommend  300µH for tx  and 1mH or a bit more for rx  all with parallel damping resistors

Yes Bernte_one, That is exactly what I did because of better discrim but now, after been outdoor
i am not sure  about it. Its too  heavy and the disc is the same as with classic CC (concentric coil)
like You describe .

Dragan

Hello Folks !!   Smiley

OK here is a link to my old archive at forum.cxem.net forum. My good friend Korvin has uploaded a lot of working projects and various schematics.  Smiley

You can find and free download ММП 203 - Professional Magnetometer Project and a lot informations about PI and VLF metal detectors. Also there are some hand held oscillograph poject and various meters like F/RLC for your MD lab and lot informations about Treasure hunting and Metal prospecting. Feel free to copy and redistribute world wide.

My new MOTO: Every house with metal detector. It is a best way to make a life wonderfull - clean air and shiny sun with a lot of golden coins in the pockets.

Let's the TH games begin !!  Cheesy
