NE555 I have read "Inside the Metal Detector" by Carl Moreland and George Overton and have built many Detectors from BFO to VLF as a hobby and now I am on the PI. I bought the DBP2010 only to experiment and was just curious as to what was coming from Bulgaria. I do know how to tune coils and know how a PI works. I have in my workshop the necessary equipment to test and troubleshoot at the chip level, Oscilloscope, Spectrum Analyzer., PIC Programmer etc. I decided to build the Chance PI because I can program the Atmega8 and change the parameters to suit the conditions. This detector is similar to PI-5 in Carl's book, Inside the Metal detector, page 171.

Hi, I have the same machine and have a manual for you...I've added a page at the end that crazytech sent me for gold prospecting, with some settings that seem to work for me. Haven't tried this in the field yet as it's winter, but have messed around in my yard and seems to work...Bob

Thank you for the Input. Never seen this rtf file extension before. Was able to open and read with Windows Word.

Short Cut :

"DESERT GOLD HUNTING…

Ok my friend, i happy for you for solved problem.

Recomended use detector on all. metal mode VCO/off
Power 10 not more

Sens. not too smal value about 10-12
Set discrimination, on disc. value for clear detecting fe and non-fe metals.
use disc mode tone discrimination

VCO-on and Iron rejct mode can use on plades where is so much
garbage metals for detecting only big objects.

Detector is very deeper on tresh. 2-4- set it on stable value.

Remember if detector is unstable or after any detection signal can push encoder for 1 sec. not more,
this procedure will clear any false signals.

Delay: for better discrimination.
