Before you go too far, be certain that your detector will accept a double coil such as the Double D. Some can only work with a mono coil. They can't be adapted but some design for their own coils which may be both.

If the coil is for one of your Minelab machines, you will need Litz wire. Here is a source of that.

Scroll half way down the page. He also has good advice on all sorts of Minelab mods and coils.

its not for a minelab im working on a xr71 it will be my first build and i really dont know what im doing but with every question i ask i learn something. i've been watching youtube videos visiting forums looking for all the advice i can get on building detectors and coils.. i believe i can soulder up a board using good schematics and a picture. but the thing im worried about is building a coil.theres so many kinds you could build i was going to just start with a mono coil and then work my way up.the detector will be for relic hunting and some beach.thats why i posted some questions about using some ones factory coil that would be so much easier for me but on one seems to know what works on the xr71..thank you for all your help

Like GoldDigger1950 says, single coil not D for PI, and you could, feasably add a second coil, parallel to the first by doubling the drive circuit power FET.  Wise

I have a wire resistance chart and have been looking for a good place to upload it to. The chart was for solid wire but Litz will have insignificant differences, for the same sizes. It is borrowed from an old ARRL publication, 37 yrs old.  Exhausted
