hi xavier
capacitance per unit length of cable that goes to the coil can sometimes create problems of instability with some coil. In general the more low better. 75 ohms (TV) is better than 50
When you changed your connector nothing could make up These and-Standing?

la capacité linéique du cable qui va a la bobine peut parfois crée des problemes d'instabilité avec certaines bobine. En general plus elle faible meilleur c'est . 75 ohms (TV) est meilleur  que 50. Quand tu a changé ton connecteur  rien n'a pu faire augmenté c'ette capacitée?

Actually I found that the original plug that I used had an internal resistance. As the detector was build around that plug I decided to place a resistor in parallel with the coil now it's almost like it was I just don't have the time right now to fiddle around with it.

All the best
Xavier
