bad idea

you need a shaft with round lockrings NOT with clamping lever

the version with round lockrings have round tubes so you could change the lower parts simple with standard gfk pipe
the monopod with clamping lever has tubes with a groove so you CANT replace them easily

you will see what i mean when the monopod arrived

if would you ask me ; why i have to change anything of these lower pipes? i would answer that pi and vlf design with loose performance if too much metal is nearby the coil

I can't see why the clip system would be a problem at all in fact I prefer it. Are you saying that the shaft is metal? if so it should not be a problem with a motion detector.

I buy my lower shafts from Tesoro, and my coil shells from Don Bowers. He makes the shells to fit the Tesoro shafts. The shafts are carbon fiber and very light as well as inexpensive. Also they look very professional. For About $30 bucks I got the business end of a detector. Just have to wind the coils and insert. Sweet.
