aw beans,i just joined today,i dont wanna be booted already.
but i am simply gonna have to disagree
granted the lm386 is a decent little audio amp.but it is not nessasary to add.
there is already a audio output from a darlington pair ,it just needs a little more amplification to drive a larger speaker.
so plz dont boot me just yet.

 Grin not planning to boot you mate just telling you that using the lm386 is the proper way for me to do it, I can place my setup in any detector in a few minutes without having to play with the actual unit.  Just remove the speaker and reconnect on amp output side, speaker wires on amp input side.
