im about to take on a new project 2 PI detectors.they are SMT.what are the best componets to use?i know they may cost a little more but if i get better results that is what i want.and this is a question about all the componets that go on a board. thank everyone for there help

Unless you have experience with SMT, I discourage anyone from working with it. It can be time consuming, fraught with errors (that leaves you with a non-working board), and broken/burnt parts. If there is anyway to stick with through-hole, that's the way to go. Honestly, if I were to make a design that I wanted others to be able to build, I'd stick with through hole parts in the entirety of the design.

i cant i have orderd the boards. i know they are hard but i will take my time.

Ok. When you have the detector completely built, post in the forums pictures and let us know how it works. What design are you using?

well i'm almost done with the XR71 kit. when i get my other boards i'll post the pictures. it is the headhunter1 and the headhunter2

Did you use an SMT soldering station or just a normal soldering rod?
I am planning on buying a good soldering station.

the xr71 is through hole.the 2 new boards i have ordered are smt.right now i have only a temp. controled soldering iron.i guess i will have some challenges
