It's great reading all of your input here Thanks.  I guess my question is if you were going to build any PI design right now as a basis for finding small gold nuggets in old dredge piles or on the streams which plans or kit would you prefer above all?  I understand that further mods are required to optimize for the purpose.

 Dan

Hi Dan

That's probably a question that will never really be answered we all have our own reason to build a specific machine and we all have our preferences one person will want a deep machine with a large coil you on the other hand would need a small coil high frequency with a very fast coil decay. You should search the forum and the net read as much about it as you can then try and find a design that will fit to your needs ask your self this do I really want to build it my self? Don't ever believe that you will have it up and running in a few day believe me this takes a lot of time and frustration but when you do have it working it's a great sense of satisfaction.

All the best Xavier PS I was where you are today so don't despair

You know there is one thing that needs to be kept in mind and that is, in what conditions are you using this machine is it too hot or to cold these factors will affect the performance of the machine to give you an example when a car arrive in Senegal coming from France or Germany the first thing that they do is to remove the thermostat and bridge the fan or they over heat the reason being that there are huge traffic jams and the temperature is very hight. So is your problem not heat related too?

Regards Xavier
