Any one going to try building with silverdog's Chance PC? I'm wondering how to do the programming on the ATmega8. I was hoping to use Ponyprog but it only supports parallel and serial programmers. Most of the stuff I see is USB, Don't plan to do much if any programming. Just want to view and burn the dip. Any suggestions?

I saw that software but was a bit worried it is discontinued and not supported... The owner did suggest WxPIC. Will check out both. Thanks!

Google Arduini Uno ISP and Programmer.

The arduino.cc site will let you download the IDE (source code) and the ISP is the programmer.

It's all free.

The arduino is a small board that now used the ATmega8 series of chips.

Do an ebay search for "AVR ISP STK200", its about $11 with shipping and works with ponyprog

And check out the following link for mods the board needs.. (some ground connections are missing)

Thanks Jakub. I probably would have missed that post. I'm sure Silverdog will be on top of it..... so I will stay tuned in.

I to will play the waiting game on this one, maybe even until Silverdog makes a preprogramed processor chip available.

Gramps, the Atmega, like most microcontrollers, can be programmed in circuit using a cable you make yourself from an old printer cable. The problem is getting the right source code and/or hex code. I've read where the current code uses Polish characters on the display. Not good for someone who doesn't read Polish.

The 0.84 firmware from fandy.vov.ru uses English.... Just programmed it, there is not much of whatever language in the menu system, just "barrier, volume, mask and zero."
