Xavier, a sound card is fine but remember what I told you months ago? You need a high impedance scope probe or your sound card will attenuate your readings. You might have a perfect square wave there but without a 10Mohm scope probe, you will get an integral of a square wave which is what your signal indicates.

Again, two questions.
Are you using a scope probe or a straight wire?
Where are the signals being read? Pin 2 of what? IC1? IC2? Some other place?

Hi GD

I got an audio wire at the end of the wire I have a 10 meg resistor I went to our local computer shop and asked about the probe I could just as well have spoken Chinese to the guy  Sad never heard of it any way the resistor is there to protect my audio card. I took the reading from pin 9 IC 1 and pin 2 IC 2 I also have the setup that I found on the CZ site I posted the doc it is taken from pin 6,12,13 IC 8 and pin 2 IC2 each one has a 1n4148 with a 10K resistor all the resistors are together going to the scope.

Best Regards Xavier

Easy to make an oscilloscope probe . They are posted on the internet . That is why I was telling you to disconnect parts of the circuit , I did not know what was loading down the waveforms . Now we know !! The 7556 is a tough Pulse width generator , I knew it was external load causing the problem but I did not know where . If it still is not a 100% perfect squarewave you must do the troubleshooting procedures on the other post .

Now you will finish the DBP-2010 Project FAST !!

Xavier, if you have socketed IC2, remove that chip and take your readings again. The 10Mohm resistor in series with the wire is good but you need a couple of 10pf caps, one on either end of the resistor and ground in order to be sure you are not getting any attenuation from your probe. After you remove IC2, if the waveforms are the same, you have a problem with the 556 circuitry. If they become square waves, then IC2 is the problem.

You could always splurge and treat yourself to one of these, mate!

Hi GD

Thanks for the link but at the moment I will stick with my home made probe. Got one build but I used a 100uF cap and I found out that I should have used a 10uF one any how I will change that in the morning OK I have 90Hz on pin 5 and 9 which is correct turn timpot 1 and frequency moves up and down like it should but trimpot 2 hardly dose any thing and it should so will check again once I have replaced that cap in the probe ho yes got a 10K pot on it seems to work OK here is a pic of what I get on pin 5 (screen shot 9) and screen shot 10 is what I get on pin 9.

Best Regards
Xavier

They look a little distorted but not entirely bad. It may be your probe. Was IC2 removed from its socket? If you soldered it in, cut the trace between pins 9 and 5 one at a time to see if the signals smooth out. You've got to isolate the problem before you can fix it.

Hello GD . Great News . Xavier found the problem 2 days ago . It was like a microscopic whisker hair short on his pcb circuit board . We congratulated him on his great work !!
