ref :electech2u

regarding "reflector" on the top of a search coil , if it's a metal it would be "seen" by the coil,

graphite spray or thin foil or scotch braid can be used as a faraday shield to keep out unwanted rf , but these only keep out rf , blocking "dc" low frequency / static magnetic fields as yet as far as i'm aware cant be done.

a magnetic field can pass through any material , may be weakened or distorted , but will go through , magnetic shield not yet invented , same goes for reflectors. (with the exeption of emp weapons)

best we have so far is the ability to block rf magnetic fields and aim / direct rf fields.

there is a material , cant remember its name , that can drasticaly reduce interferance from magnetic fields  on electronic equiptment , don't think it would be usefull to us on a search coil coil as a magnetic field has to have a return path , if we managed to block that pass , it would find another path and just be distorted.

i stand to be corrected by my post above.

"reflector" for the PI (IB,BFO...) coil does not exist. Magnetic field does not spread in a straight line.
