I seriously doubt that this is true. I have traveled to Indonesia many times with a detector and never once got charged customs for it or had it confiscated. They did look at it and had a lot of questions about how it works but that was all. Make a phone call to see if there will be any problems. Then have it sent registered mail.

Its okay to bring one to airport, but to buy from foreign country there is a new rule of tax and regulation, thats why the price of all metal detector here is double, or triple!
All custom clearence here is ruled by corrupt officer, thats even make me stop my sales business from malay because of this.
 No no! No no! Exhausted
