Sean this project is really simple and unless you are unlucky to have a bad component I cant see that you will need more than what you already have. I'm sure that you have seen the board all the components have been silk screened on the board so to say this board is really well done just the thing for a beginner you may want to get yourself a solder pump and good solder but thats all that comes to mind at the moment.

All the best
Xavier

Have you ever used one of those "Cold Heat" solderers?

Thanks

Sean

No good from what I know about it, it's just glue with aluminum particles unless that there is a new method but I really doubt it. Any way there is only one method to solder components and that is with a soldering iron.

I just read a good review of it.

I don't think it would work well. I have had no training with a solder iron, so best to ask... what is the proper way to solder a joint?
Do you know of any places online to learn the basics of working with electronics and the sort? I don't have much experience at all other than some simple repairs.

Thanks

Sean

Sean I suggest that you do some research on the net you will find lots of tutorials such as how to measure a transistor how to solder how to read the color code on a 5% resistor and 1% resistor and capacitors and the list goes on and on.

Have fun

Got into some good tutorials last night. Working night shift gives me lots of reading time. I learned a lot of that stuff in school, so it refreshed rather easy. Thanks Xavier... I will leave you alone for a while now.

Cheers

Sean

Hyfalcon

Actually if you go to page one of this thread first message you'll see is by silverdog send him a PM with what you want to know he has the PCB layout and schematics but if you look around a bit on the message boards you should find it all there some place too. Also if you're looking for a kit to build his your man.

Taking inventory on my parts.  I've already got some of these parts so I'm probably going to get the bare board and roll my own.
