Is it true that the Tesoro Sand Shark metal detector has a max. depth of 200 feet?
Any help pls.

That's what the manufacturer claims; 200 feet. Before you get all excited, it means that you can use it up to 200 feet underwater. That figure is not its detection depth  Wink

In most cases it is the people who mislead themselves, especially if they are reading an advertisement that is not written in their native language.   In this case, Tesoro is manufacturing a detector primarily designed to be used by divers and others that spend a lot of time IN the water.  They need to know how deep they can dive with their equipment and expect the seals, casing, etc to protect the delicate electronics.   The 200ft claim was directed at divers NOT at the casual hunter who isn't likely to get deeper in the water than their knees.

I don't think Tesoro had any intent to misdirect or mislead anyone. What they need is to use clearer and unambiguous terms like "Water-resistant to 200 feet".
