Eugene

All the literature now days say 200 ft but when I talk to the folks at Tosoro last year they said 100 ft plus they recommended the Tiger shark for any diving over 25 or 30 ft.

Hello Seldom . Your correct but is Tiger shark 12 khz vlf or a PI machine , I can't remember ? I read on a online field test that 100 feet was the recomended operating depth of the Sand Shark PI . So I think what the manufacturer is really saying is the depth is rated at a maximum of 200 feet , relly means do not stay at 200 feet all day only use at 200 feet for a few moments .

When they presure test the waterproof housing at the factory what results will be a passing score . No leak in 5 minutes ? SHIP-IT !!  Grin Grin    Next  Shocked   Next   Shocked
Then your 100 miles out to sea your detector gets full of water and fails with no back-up machine !

Regards.............Eugene

Their latest release for both Tiger Shark and Sand Shark have been overhauled and the coil is now leak safe. That feed through was the weak link for the design and both are rated to 200' now. The Tiger Shark is VLF and the Sand Shark is a PI machine.

The Tiger Shark is actually built around a Bandido ciore that has a microcontroller which optimizes the tuning in salt water making it as good, if not better, than a PI machine. The Sand Shark also has a microntroller making it one of the very few on the market that offer zero drift and maximum stability in wet sand/soil or water. Both are fantastic machines, Eugene.

I recommend the 10" coil on either of these.

Thank-You Gold Digger . I know they are fantastic Tesoro machines , but there was a concern on conflicting "pressure test" reports from a few individuals that e-mailed me .

They are no doubt reading the pre-redesign posts. The new models have been thoroughly tested at the factory. This happens often. An old story gets reposted by someone who uses the quote feature and it becomes a new rumor that was put to bed already. Nature of the beast.

The new release of the Tesoro Sharks are both fine now.

GD's right of course,

These things happen from time to time and the story from days of old gets mixed into current time, and the story builds and builds, but in reality its already been solved and addressed.

But, there are always flawed units that get past QC checks and make there way to the end user, that's common for any item from any MFG....warrenties are great to have on new units.  Pray

The Tesoro's are great quality made machines & have awesome reputations for reliabilty and results!

Cheers,  Great
Jim
