Golddigger  , My advice to Dennis was to use an eight strand electrical cable  ( never used the telephone cable ) .  Who are the DIY genesis you refer to ? Hope it is not me !  Cornelius

No, Cornelius, certainly not you. I refer to the kids on other web sites who think they've discovered a miracle when they only get adequate results. To get superior results, you have to know what you're doing. To continue to get mediocre results, all they need to do is ignore those who DO know what they are doing.

A lot of people here and on other sites pride themselves on believing they can copy anything cheaper, better and faster than an original. They seem to forget that hundreds or even thousands of hours go into the design of whatever it is they are copying. They forget the basics like what twisted pair wiring was designed to do. They are ignorant of physics and electronics but they got a circuit to work in spite of that. In their opinion, anyone who comes along later and tries to show them the right way is throwing water on their parade instead of trying to teach them.

This is my first post.  I have been following the dialog on the DBP-2010 for a bit.  I noticed that there are no instructions for setting F1/F2 although I did see somewhere that there were some brief guidance for setting R1-3 for the original version of the DBP-2010.  I did notice that there was a photo of the F1/F2 timing for the Czech version in one of the .zip files.  The zip file was incomplete as it did not include a schematic.  Is there some sort of operating manual for this detector?  I also noticed that I have been unable to find a schematic for the original version that matches the original version parts list.

Hi Jiminy and welcome to the forum

What I suggest that you do is get the posts that you need to be a full member then go to our download section. There you will find PI detectors then download the complete schematics and part list once you get started with your project we will help you with further details that you may require.

Xavier,
Thank you for your response.
I've read and re-read all yours and the others fine work.  A lot of hard work by all.  I have an extensive background working with electronics so I am confident that I can build the DBP-2010.  Making the PCB should present no difficulty either.  I plan to use the "Press and Peel" film.  I've made many circuit boards in the past and soldering is not a problem.  Now the coil may be a little different.  I have a minelab explorer se, an infinium, and another el-cheepo which all work well.  Not only will this be fun and experience to build, I can experiment with different coils which I cannot do on the others. (without a big cash layout.)

Hi Jiminy

The coil for this PI is really simple I am experimenting with flat coils at the moment but if you make the normal coil you will have no problems it's a singe. as for the press and peel that you are using do you have to use a lazer printer for it or can you use a jet printer? I am using Positive 20 and it's as expensive as gold so I am looking for an alternative.

Xavier,
To use the Press-n-Peel Blue just print your layout onto the Mylar (Polyester) backed material with a laser printer or copy on with a dry toner based photocopier.  You then use a hot iron to transfer the film to the prepared and cleaned circuit board.  Here is a link to the website.

The film is also available on Ebay in smaller quantities for of course less cost.  Is a piece of cake and fast.
