[wise]I'm confused all I wanted was to check out this PI detector,I recieved a email link but had to join something ,then I have to figure out how to post 5 somethings to use the site, finally I have to read about internal politics (left out ,changed, incomplete schematics) . Please use the KISS (keep it simple for stupid) approach, some of us would rather dig dirt than spend all day on the computer

Dumbdigger .  If you think that you just can come overhere and pick-up a schematic ( for free  without any obligation ) you are wrong .  Become a contributing member and we will see what we can do for you .  Cornelius

Whoa there McDude don't be gett'n your jolly rodger in a twist.  Registration is no biggy it's just a way of proving your serious and want to be a contributer not just a lurker or scammer.  Again the 5 post thing is just a seriousness test.

As far as the what you call internal politics goes you have to remember that this board is made up of people from all over the world and what might seem trivial to you might be very serious to them.  There are three things you can do in the event that you can't relate to the post.  1. delete the E-mail notification and move on.  2. page down, thing might be more interesting further down.  3. page back and go to another topic.

Like I said it's nothing to get your JR in a twist over, just be cool and remember all those new friends you'll be making in over the globe, man it's totally cool.

Thanks for the quick reply, pardon my frustration,I'm still struggling to navigate the site. I too am a Gramps and consider myself somewhat computer challenged.
Hi Xavier, the reason for my interest in PI detector is to allay my name, there were 3 of us that dug by hand 19 1/2 ft. deep ona target that was verified by 2 different locators. (accurate locator & Rangertell GT ) the radar unit showed a very cool pic ,however we didnot reach the depth indicated before being warned by BLM to secure the necessary permits, then we were told that if we recovered it we could not even recover costs none of it would be ours, I believe it to be a safe lost in the Az. 1881 dam break.Based on a test pic of a known quantity 1/2 oz nugget there are several million reasons that I can't forget about it!!

Dumbddiger2 if you build the DBP2010 with a 1m x 1m coil you will have in the region of 4m (+/- 12 feet) ground penetration (perhaps better it is a very good design) as for the complete schematics I can't send them to you as I have just changed my operating system from Microsoft to Linux and I still have my nicker's in a knot but I'm quite sure that there are a number of the other members that will only be too happy to send you a copy (if I can find it I will send it to you)

Xavier,

You brought up the coil aspect of the DBP 2010 and a large coil may be in the future but to start with what is the make up of a smaller coil?  Lets say a coil of about 25 cm, what would the # of turns, wire ga. and what inductance are we shooting for?

Many thanks,
Gramps

Coil  #1     diam  . 230 mm   .  43 windings    0.5 mm cu wire  .. Coil #2   diam . 450 mm  . 23 windings   0.5 mm cu wire .  For a  1 meter x 1 meter coil , use 8 strand cable .  Cornelius

Many mucho thanks Cornelius that's perfect.  One little question though, for the meter coil are you talking about an 8 conductor cable with the conductors connected to approximate a a spiral coil?

Take care,
Dennis aka Gramps
