Anyone here ever use a two box like those made by Garret? I had one for a couple years but all I ever found was surface junk. Nothing deep.

Steve

Steve, Look at these reports. One id on the Garrett and the other is on the Whites TM-808. Check out the depth on 2-boxes in these reports. Also you can call Dan if you want and ask questions on his field test. His number is in the back. I use the TF-900 by Discovery. But you have to use the best detector suited for the area you are hunting.

If you were going to try and hunt meteorites in a known strewnfield- which detector would you use? It's Iowa farmalnd so it's not mineralized.

If it's not mineralized then the 2-box would easy to handle covering a large grid. You just have to watch the sensitivity on these machines. If you walk and hear a sound everytime you take a step you need to back off a bit. Now that's with the unit ground balanced. I run it as hot as I can without too much interference. Every detector has good and bad points. But if the 2 box is used correctly you can reach some deep targets, if you can hear them.

Good luck hunting,

Steve I use the Discovery TF-900. Discover made the Whites TM-808 for years until White went on their own. But both detectors are about the same. Some told me the Discover goes deeper, but I never cheked that out. If I can help you let me know.

Hi Joe, I'm sure someone has found cache using the 2-box type detectors. But I don't think anyone would say anything here. "The Treasure-Finder 900 Automatic VLF unit is the only one of the kind capable of maximum depths while ignoring the effects of ground minerals." I do know that 8-10 small iron balls about the size of golf balls have been recovered at a depth of 13ft using the TM-808 and the Arc-Geo logger. This is measured depth.

As far as salts and the beach I never tested the unit on a beach. But if I get a chance I will. About the small targets, yes so the manual claims and from test I have done. But in the cave mode, the detector acts like discrimination to small iron and still pick up non-ferrous targets. I have tested and found this to be true. The unit is suppose to detect a quart size and up.

Tim
