I've collected all the possible information on the PI
and I've find out that the version 1.2 is probably the best.
I've redraw the schematic with circad and posted it here.

Now there is the PCB (1:1 scale).

I think it's all OK, but please check it all before use it,
and please report if you find some error.

Have a nice day to everyone.

Hello NIKOS.

Thanks you very much.
I like to share info to everyone.
If you need the kicad PCB project I'll post it.
Here I post my etched PCB.
Now I'm going to build all the components and to test the PCB.
When I've fineshed I posted the result.

Have a nice day.
Stefano

Hi there,

this project is very intresting.
I want to build a detector by myself but I really take this project into consideration.

I am really looking forward to a soldering session!

Thanks for all the good jobs.
Greets,
Servilla

Hi I'm fairly new here and have a couple of questions, since Radio Shack was replaced by the Source, parts in Canada are just not available to the hobby builders.  I'd like to build the Underwater PI project but have no access to either parts or circuit board kits anymore.  I have a couple of questions for someone close to a parts supply.  I do have a laser printer that does transparancies. And an adaptive mind and lots of fine soldering experience.

1 Is it possible to put together a kit with the completed cuircuit board and most of the harder to get parts, I have a fairly good supply of resistors and some meters salvaged from older electronics and a supply of aluminum pipe

2 I have a couple of older detectors for parts is it possible to use a coil from a Garret Coin hunter (BFO) with a small and a large coil in one unit to work with the surf PI detector, and how would I check this out.  It has both an 8 inch large coil and a 4 inch small coil that is switched to work 8 inch or 4 inch

Hi,
Regarding the coil, I wouldn't think it would be at all useable.
Maybe you could salvage the coil housing though.
As for parts, you could always try good old "ebay".
Should be able to get what you need pretty easily.

Then I suppose there was a reason to hold onto a large box of insulated copper wire spools in various sizes and gauges.  Anyone deal with BG micro in Texas wherever I purchase parts must use Paypal as I don't have or want a credit card.

There are two easy solutions for you. A Visa or MasterCard debit card is a safe alternative. Also, you can get a prepaid Visa or MasterCard from some retailers. I have two credit cards. Both have no fees and a zero balance and will stay that way unless urgent requirements come up. The emergency needs I may have in the future can be met rapidly by having them. I don't use credit either so I know where you are coming from on this one. It can take a few days to move cash around any other way so necessity drives my having the hated credit cards.
