A bad day at gold prospecting or metal detecting is better than a good day at work.

it is a rework of BRN-Pi1

hope that i made all right, i have found some differences in schematic and layout
have tried to make the layout easy for beginners, no smd, more space for all components to solder

the test will follow in some days i am waiting for some cables

Seems like your on the right track there but the response time seem to be slow, could be the coil that you are using.

hello xavier,
i have heared this too from someone else
but in reality it is not Huh?
the display show a target very fast, it seems that the tone level is a bit lower but it runs very smooth no falsing or threshold backround sound   if the trimmer onboard is set correct

it seems compatible with the surf pi, chance pi or baracuda pi coil specs 200-400µH

power consumption should be around 50mA (i think this is with backlight off) Cheesy

i have found several improovemnets tips on geotech, but first task to build the basic setup and than to fit all usefull upgrades and than step by step

away from the µcontroller which is not easy to flash and to buy for a good prices this machine is a good project for diy beginners
low part count and  i would say very little risk to make an error

have some design ideas for a complete  stem based unit  with the lcd on the frontgrip and the rest under the arm cup

ill will made a better pcb,   i have also made a panel for tactile switches which could fit directly behind the front panel or for the box which contains the lcd
