metal detectors detect metal not empty spaces....If you want a chance to detect voids (cavities and caverns) you need ground penetrating radar or seismological equipment.

if ground balance change the setting shows only a small area...may be....

Hey celtic mist!  The TF-900 by Discovery is supposed to detect non-ferrous metal and cavities. I got to test the cavity feature at a mine entrance, it went down to at least 7 ft.,,,, I have gotten soundings on the iron setting, but since it has no depth meter, I am still digging! HA! Good Luck!  td
