Are you talking Logarithmic or Linear ?   Or strait Values of Resistance ?     Resistance would be Dependent on the circuit at hand.  Were the Pot in within the Circuit and other factors  like Amplification Levels .  Log or Linear is a personal choice.   In the Audio world of Music or Voice most people prefer a Logarithmic Pot were as Resistance changes on a scale relevant  to the human ears ability to hear changes in Tone and Freq , Logarithmic.  I like a Linear Pot my self.   Were working with a single or few tones.  With Voice it would be a different animal.
