Whites and Minelab have Mastered the PI circuit.

I would start there and see where they have gone from there.

That should take you where you want to be.

Dear Yhl (or Mr. Yue Hailin from China Jiangxi Nanchang).
You made the circuit diagram shown in left - project of Gary Chemelec. Please describe in the forum your results and what coil assembly you have tested.
However pass  the posting trough a spelling check program because for me is dificult to understand Chinese English. Smiley

Hi mikebg

For me,gary it was an ongoing project of educational projects completed that depend on 555 and adoption of the direct way is to get a lot of experiences doing this project at the same time  I feel that it gives very good results.

I think the Bare Bones and best would be the Surf PI.

And you can obtain a Really Good Kit for Cheap!

Check out Silverdogs store.

Barracuda is better ...  But our friend yhl wants: a simple metal detector with good discrimination and with good sensitivity to coins (more than 25cm).

This is good PI in general. Not tuned for small gold though. I can detect a 1 ounce gold coin in air at 3 feet with mine. It has a 15 inch coil.

Fortunately, there are a couple with discrimination though.

It's difficult to do because the decay return of the pulse must be analyzed quite rigorously and it's just not that easy to pick out the differences. My Sea Hunter has it but I don't use it. Since I dig everything, using it would have me accidentally eliminating things I want to see come to me.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

Discrimination is not 100% sure (even in the VLF) in the whole of its depth. It is best to dig every signal, because who knows what can be missed ...
