Hi everyone,

Here is another pirate to research.

Just dusting my filing cabinet.

............

British sloop of war has captured a piratical vessel that had a crew of sixty men, under the command of the famous Lafitte. He hoisted a bloody flag and refused quarter, and fought until nearly every man was killed or wounded--Lafitte being among the former

Hello csharp

You have made a very interesting discovery there. It was question no one was sure of in another post on Jean Lafitte started  by Luc.

There was much speculation that Jean Lafitte died some where in retirement. But this is the first time I have seen a document indicating his death in 1823. This is very interesting point if this was the case for anyone researching Jean Lafitte. As his death may support the possibility that he may of hidden caches all over the gulf coast as was never able to recover them.

Keep dusting those files I enjoying them Wink

Hardluck
