Goes hand in hand with the increasing number of cameras out there. Just like in London. Last time I read something about cameras in the UK, the article said that there are a minimum of 3 cameras at any single point in London. Not so much in the country.

Living in Tucson AZ back in the 70's I remember the USAF Base Davis Monthan a SAC Base flying U-2's every day.

Some how the Overseers of Tucson talked the USAF into providing Photo's of Tucson every year for a few years.

They used the Photo's to find folks that have built on there homes without permits.   LOL

Big Brother has been around a Long, Long time.

It's just now that they think there Big Enough to get in your Face.

Like any technology for every good use there seems to be an equal or disproportionate amount of bad uses. The more automated and painless these systems become to use the more "applications" will be found. Most of those "applications" will result in revenue generation from the public for any infraction that can be caught on camera. Imagine a drone parole officer that hovers overhead or a drone park ranger that monitors your campsite to make sure you don't walk on the grass. Soon they will probably instantly email out a citation without need of human interaction.

I watched the coming of age of this technology in the RC airplane hobby when it was assimilated by the computer world. It's really cool in many ways, but it's just a tool.

Any tool can be good or evil depending on the user. Even if the user today is good with everyone's best interest in mind the one who comes next may not be. In my opinion it's already been exploited in cases where there were no rules to say you can't use them, so I believe this is one of the few places we really do need new laws.
