Go Up Go Down

It just sickens me what's going on down there in AZ. The new bill SUPPORTS the federal law, and people just aren't listening at all, plus we have a president that's against it also which makes it worse.

There are so many angles on this that they just don't get.
1. Take a look at how other illegals are treated in other countries.. Illegals coming into Mexico are beaten, raped and imprisoned. You pass the North Korean border, you get 12 hours hard labor. You pass the Afghan (and some others too) border you get shot. You pass the American border you get a job, drivers license, allowance for a place to live, health care, the list goes on!
2. Apparently the protesters are attempting to boycott the Arizona businesses, well they apparently don't see the writing on the wall for that either: the domino effect of that is... the AZ businesses would then receive less income, which means they pay LESS in state income taxes, which means that the state receives less revenue, which means they have LESS for their budget to pay for everything and become another state (like California) that becomes bankrupt!
3. This was already voted on and passed, so why are they protesting NOW - only after the Governor Brewer signed it, when instead they should have been protesting when it was being discussed in the state's legislation?
4. There are an estimated 460,000 illegals living in AZ alone.. and HOW many of them are paying taxes? But yet how many of them are sapping off the government like leeches and taking away those benefits that should ONLY be given out to those that are the hard working TAX-paying American citizens?

Enough said... why do you suppose social security is estimated to be dead by the year 2017?!!

The vast majority of Arizona residents of all races and ethnic background are in favor of immigration, as long as it is done legally.   They also want the government of the United States to enforce existing immigration law (although they are willing to see changes to the laws real border security has been implemented).   Unfortunately for the people of Arizona (and for the citizens of other 'border' states), the Federal government has been extremely lax in the enforcement of its laws.   Except for extending the definition of trespass to include being in the state without proper legal authority (as defined by US law, not Arizona law) a misdemeanor, the Arizona does no more than direct state and local law enforcement to enforce the FEDERAL laws on the book --- laws that they are already sworn to uphold and support.  It also forbids cities from declaring themselves "sanctuary" cities, immune from the enforcement of Federal and state law that their officers have been sworn to support.   Additionaly, law enforcement is specifically forbidden from using the law to target racial minorities (which is not to say such targetting can not  and will not be done by some---but that would be the case with or without the law)

It should not be considered unreasonable to expect law enforcement to actually enforce laws already on the books.  And if the Federal government will not honor its contractual responsibility to enforce the federal law, 3 other options are available:
1) change the law
2) have the states and/or the people from whom the federal government derives its authority and existence enforce the law
or
3) replace the existing federal structure/relationship with another.

It is inevitable that over time one of the four choices (which includes the possibility the federal government will enforce its laws) will occur.  The debate now is which will occur and how quickly and lasting the resultant changes will be.

Just my 2 cents.

BA

Here is the thing if illegals are protesting what does it matter they are illegal they don't have a say? Also you make a good point what is the point of protesting a law that is already passed (to be fair you can change a law).

I did a search, and found out that Russell Pearce was the sponsor of that bill Arizona SB1070, so I found his profile on facebook, then saw all the hate-mongers trashing him there! How sad. However, there was another unrelated part about his personal life is that he's a wife-beater, and I just have no room for that. If he were to be forced to resign from that, then I'd be all for it. Nobody has the right to beat their spouse.  Sad
What I also don't understand either, is that the wife chose to stay with him.. strange world we live in.

Never believe everything you read on the internet.   Further just as a really good person can have really lousy and dangerously wrong ideas, a person with serious character flaws can also have a very clear vision of what should and shouldn't be done to improve a situation.
The quickest way to destroy a good, sensible idea is to attack the character of the person who proposed the idea.   (The accusation doesn't even have to be true, but it helps if it is at least plausible.)
Before you judge Russell Pearce as either a good man or a bad man, examine the lifes of Wyatt Earp, Commodore Perry Owens, Bat Masterson, Jamie Stott, and others and tell me if they were good men or bad men.   A lot depends upon whether you're listening to their friends or their enemies.   Judge ideas by their actual value, not by the personal foibles of the person proposing them.

By the way, I don't know if Russell Pearce beat his wife or not.... (fortunately, I'm not in his district, so I don't have to weigh his character when deciding who to vote for).

I agree, but I do believe that he's got the right idea for protecting the interests of Americans and keeping our economy from going bankrupt.
Apparently Kenny Rogers fell under the spotlight as well quite a while back for wife beating (and also that actor on M*A*S*H - Colonel Shermon Potter), but again, you can allegedly say something about them, then once it's on the internet, then everyone believes it's true.

Illegal is ILLEGAL.  What a slap in the face to all the people who came here and became naturalized citizens and immigrated here legally.  Those are the ones that respect our laws, our borders, and swore an oath of allegiance to this country.

Bravo Arizona!
