President Barack Obama declared Friday the US war in Iraq will end by August 31, 2010, heralding a final chapter in an unpopular conflict which extracted a steep price in lives and dollars and divided a nation.


 
But angering liberal backers, Obama said up to 50,000 US troops would stay in a new role in Iraq until the end of 2011, nearly nine years after his predecessor George W. Bush ordered an invasion to topple Saddam Hussein.                                     


Good to see the troops can now see a finish line

I am glad they have an end date in sight, too, plus I think it was good that his administration reversed the 18 year ban on photographing flag draped coffins.

   This is a gem!  The only sorrow I see is on the American side, Iraq was a utopia under Sadam H. huh?
At this point in time I say bring our troops home!  They are not even allowed to defend themselves there under rules combat if they are in a "secure" area.
     Let Iraq figure it out for themselves-"that which does not kill me makes me stronger". Or maybe we could get some Liberals to go and build a new government for them! Cheesy
