I Don't much post my finds. But This was a good one. Tailing piles just 20 miles from home and going back for the third time.

sorry the Photo being from the cell phone. Not so good. People that know what there looking at will know what there seeing.

Frosty Crystalized Gold in Quartz. In the photo it does not look so good but it's there. The whole bit of Quartz is shot full of it. Need to get back and find the other Rocks they Trough away.

Sorry Phone Cam did not pick up the Shine. Frosted Gold looks like Butter. Trust me it's there.

My guess is there is at least a Gram or Two in this peace. To Soft to Cut and make a Cob out of.

Laugh if you want.  This was found with a 1970's Garrett S3 15khz detector.

It made a most cool WOOOOM sound.

That detector aint no reason to laugh, It found the GOLD and Very Fine Gold at that, I spent a lot of money on detector (7000+) on 3 minelabs and never found a Speck, So I would value that Garrett at Leased at $7001.95 because you wooped me already,
That Machines a Keeper that's for sure

I love 15khz machines or there abouts because they seem to Produce and give you Depth,

You Must Hurry Back there Mate, forget sitting here typing you will have time for that when you have filled your pockets, Try early morning and late afternoon and rest in the Heat,

Excellent find Homefire. And a rare one indeed, as gold found in quartz is less common than gold found in  other types of rocks. Even more rare is that it is  its crystallized gold. Museum quality.

A bad day at gold prospecting or metal detecting is better than a good day at work.

In these parts almost all gold found is associated with Quartz of one form or another.

Yes Homefire,
You stated it correctly.  Gold is almost always found "associated" with quartz , but to be technically correct it is usually found in the "host" rock and sometimes in quartz intrusion veins. You have a great find there. If you have a state geological department there, they can evaluate it for you.
