Just as soon as the creeks start running again. First I have to do some claim marking for the club that I volunteered for. It's best to do that before the rainy season comes as there are a lot of creeks that cross the roads in the desert.

A bad day at gold prospecting or metal detecting is better than a good day at work.

I would call it a Banjo dry washer  Grin

UPDATE
Well instead of building my drywasher and auto panner, I broke down and bought a new commercial drywasher and a used spiral gold wheel. I am out having fun with it and have found only a little gold so far. Dredging season is near, and am looking forward to getting started on that as the gold yield is usually more because you are processing a lot more material.
Carl

Amen to that ! dredging is much more better than dry washing  Grin at least you are inside the water , chilling and away from clouds of dust  Shocked

Homefire and Xavier.
The drywasher I am talking about is operated by 4-stroke gas operated leaf blower made by Homelite or others. As long as it has an approved spark arrestor it can be operated where there are not restrictions against it. They operated by blowing a steady stream of air through the riffles (unlike Danny's puffer type), and vibrate the riffle tray by blowing some of the air through an eccentric device that vibrates. You can get plans at

Sorry guys, I did post leaf blower motor. I should have wrote leaf blower engine. You will have to excuse my American English as I tend to call any device that operates equipment for me a motor.  Cheesy

golddustcarl,

The link you provided to the plans PDF file has a small error (not intentioned of course) I tested it and it gives the (5000 Internal Server Error) page !
Just to correct it for anyone who might be interested to get the Plans is to remove the (.) dot from the end of the link and it should work right !

Thanks for sharing by the way  Welcome

Thanks Geo2. Just a little added reminder though. Go back to post #16 and click on that link. That is the corrected one.  The one in the quoted reply is the bad one. Thanks again.

The old homemade one dits in a storage facility, because the one I replaced it with is so much easier to use. I lucked upon a 20 year old Camel brand spiral gold wheel at a prospectors supply store for $20 US. It needed a spray bar assembly, but the factory felt sorry for me and built me a new one for another $20. I used a large tub I purchased at Walmart for $3 to hold the water as well as storage for the assembly. I run it from the truck battery when I  am using it.. I  like it. More accurate than hand panning. But you must partialy pan or fine screen your concentrates first before using it. I usually rough pan the concentrates, then pluck out the visible stuff, then screen the rest with a small mesh screen. The wheel will catch the timest of gold when asjusted properly.
