I am not sure if this the right topic, however it does involve a prospecting clubs. I attended BA's metal detecting club last Monday and had a good time, met up with BA, and he was kind enough to let me borrow his favorite 4 x 7 Tesoro widescan coil. Last night I  went to the monthly club meeting at the Roadrunners club and had a productive and fun time. We had several different drawings for nuggets. Some were ticketed raffles, and one was a raffle that you could only get into it by another member of high standing. I was in all of them. I got me my nugget finally. A 1.3 gram (.04 ozT) beauty shaped like a butterfly. (see attachment). Found out my new Vibra-Probe is out for delivery by USPS.  Kiss Can hardly wait.

BLM has made new rules about claim sizes now. All claims have to be 20 acres now. No "association" claims with multiple signers anymore. Our club has to remark and resize 28 claims (making them into 87 new claims). The resizing has to be done and field by September 2. The new claims that came out of it have to be filed and paid for by Nov 30th, and oh, incidentally, that will be 10% more by the way please. (translation $8000 US more).  I volunteered with several other members to go out and remark the claims. Going this weekend. It's a chance to do my good deed for the month and  possibly get to use my new detector and probe (after the work is done of course).   Wink. By the way, they will give me a gold nugget for my troubles. (Gold is where you find it) Cheesy
The environmentalists are pressuring the senate to get rid of recreational mining on public BLM lands. How come I didn't get to vote on that? What happened to Democracy? Oh yeah, I keep forgetting. It's Obamacracy now.  Thumbs Down

Ok down off my high horse now. I recommend wherever you can join a club. The rewards are plenty and not only for a chance to improve your wealth, but also your health and knowledge.

Carl, I've been snookered more often than not (unless you call a trace of color not being snookered)----of course the few times I've been out to the GPAA sites I was either drywashing or panning.   I keep meaning to try my Lobo SuperTraq, but truth be told I enjoy hunting relics so much that when it's nice I head to a relic patch instead of a gold patch.    I used to attend the GPAA meetings in Phoenix regularly but when both they and ATU moved meeting locations temporarily, I kept up with ATU and stopped going to the GPAP meetings.

BA

Sorry so late in replying to this post, have a lot on my plate. But All gold is good gold and gold is where you find it, and it is what it is, and we love what it is, got to feed the gold fever to starve the tax man. (or something like that) Crazy LOL. Hope you aren't taking any medication for the gold fever. Cheesy

Here in the south west, New Mexico, Arizona, California, Nevada, Utah, we have a pile of Clubs.   Most are Local but there the best ones.  Concentrate on what is available to them.

Every State has there own Quarks.

I thought that it may come to good use for someone at some or other time when I found it, now if only I could find one for Belgium that would be great.

Well Xavier, I think this would be a good time for you to grab a couple of friends, build yourself a website, put your site on that list, and start your own club. I bet you would find plenty of people there that would love to join. Go for it.

I'd first have to find places to do the prospecting/panning get the permissions if any are required and then there is the transport issue (I don't have wheels) but I like the idea.

Xavier,

You don't have to do all the work yourself. Get just one place, charge others a yearly membership to use it, use the membership money to pay for other places, and on & on. Our club started with just 3 claims back in the 80's owned by a family. They charged people to use their claim. Then they started the club with membership dues and annual maintenance fees (paid to government). They use membership money to purchase or file other claims, purchase nuggets for raffles, and other costs. Over 200 claims & over 1000 members in this state and others. All of the claims are in the goldfields that run through AZ. They have a board of unpaid persons to run things, member voting rights, club outings, public speakers, and annual picnics.

From a tiny acorn a mighty oak grows.

Xavier, have you heard of this place in Belgium? I don't speak the language so I didn't know where it is located.

Interesting website.  The headquarters is in far northeastern Belgium, but since it is a national club, it may have affiliates throughout the country.    (And while I could read a bit of it, I cheated and let my browser translate the page for me)

BA

I did the same thing after I had posted. By the way, I love that 4 x 10 elliptical coil. So much, I ordered one plus a lower shaft. Coil from Metaldetector.com and the shaft from Kellyco. I can return yours by next week, or as soon as you want it. Thanks a bundle for the loan. I joined your detector club, so see you at the meeting.
