There was another camp located in QLD, although this was not for prisoners of war but for US soldiers whom, for whatever reason, needed to be locked up. This camp is near Beaudesert and I believe there was at one stage 2000 housed there. They were put to work at a local quarry where they mined rock for the ever growing railway in QLD. The property where it was located is now a dairy farm and I have known the owner for quite a few years. The house that is now on there is actually plumbed into the original camp sewerage system. You can still see, in the middle of the paddocks the remains of the shower/ toilet blocks and the lower part of the toilet "S" bends are visible in the concrete slabs. On a small hill on the site sits the chimney for the now destroyed officers quarters. Another chimney is located in a clump of trees. There are still large underground water tanks where the motor pool once was and the original barbed wire, in a huge pile, is still there today. It is quite interesting walking around the property as there are many " left overs" from the camp. On the side of the hill where they were quarrying is the original explosives store, which was partly dug into the hill and a shed was made from timber and clad with corrugated iron. The property owner told me there is a particular area where he himself found a 9mm pistol that just surfaced out of the ground, and that's not the only thing he has found. He was always concerned that if the Government, either state or federal, or the local council knew what he had discovered, on a regular basis, that continued to work its way out of the ground, that they would take possession of the property. The farm has been in the family since the end of the war and as poor dairy farmers that's just about all they have to their name. I also do know that, because of a recent family feud, that their mother, who still lives in the house, has now been forced to place the farm on the market for sale so who knows what the new owner will do with it.
For those who might want to have a look at this site, all I ask is to maybe wait a while until it is sold as I was sworn to secrecy when I was told about it and shown around.
Regards,
Davidm6244
P.S. I do have some pics both current an some when it was a camp around somewhere, I'll post them as soon as I find them.

O.k. an update on my lump of metal, since I have been rained out today. Took it to the mall and had it tested. Not silver, but I got the weight and did the water displacement at home. s.g. of 4.33. just in the right range for zinc which makes sense. Next step is to put some heat to it to see what temp it drops at. I'm losing interest at this point to tell the truth.

It is going to depend on the size of the cache and how long it has been buried as to how deep it will detect. I buried two gold rings at three feet and it took about a year and a half before I could detect them.

Good grief.

Only a shill for the fraudulent LRL industry would carry-on a "as if these gimmicks work" conversation without heeding the warnings from forum members.

There is NO treasure hunting involved. Only wallet mining from these nimrods   Angry
