This is a rare (lead) bullet dating back to the German / French war. I have only come across very few of these while I must have virtually hit hundres of musketballs.

It looks as it may hit a stone or other object.

I have a photo of one like it in a book, it says it .537 cal. ( if it's the same one) it is for a rifles musket. ( is there a hole in the base?)

It must be after 1850..and probably later than 1858.

Yes, there is a hole in the base! I have a few more that look similar. I will have to check the base for possible holes. Thanks for the advice!
