ok dummy help again....(here in Idaho we only find spent 22 shells,,lol) ........so question 2 is the fuse type (now dont think I'm totaly  dumb) but did they light the fuse first or did the cannon blast light it as cannon shot off?  (sorry, the heathen hangs his head in shame)

I think you sent your question to the wrong person about the cannon balls being fired off! But I always thought a fuse was the ignition source to the powder!

The fuse was ignited the way you said by cannon blast fuses were cut to a known length for ranging not at all accurate but when on target produced some devastating carnage........HH...Johnnn
