Thanks outback. Waveing The staff button was only like an inch or two, the others were probably anywhere from 4 to 6 inches approx. None of the buttons were actually found on known CW sites, they were found on misc. vacant lots & one was found in a park. So, really its kinda hard to say how they ended up where they did.

Hi Sue, these are my most recent finds since moving to missouri, I used to live in the florida panhandle close to alabama, and I have dug a bunch of CW relics down there. Unfortunately, I have also sold alot of relics too Cry wish I had them now. To give you an idea, I have dug hundreds of minie balls both union & confederate, the most rare would have to be a confederate sharpshooters bullet. Buttons: Confederate block "I" (tin back), MVC - Mobile Volunteer Corps (confederate),lots of new york buttons, eagle "R", "A", "C", & "I" buttons, a U.S. cartridge box plate, eagle breastplate, I even found a half dime that a soldier cut into the shape of a heart in a confederate camp, along with a bunch of fired & unfired percussion caps, & a nipple protector hand carved out of an enfield bullet. I have also dug cannonball frags & grapeshot, And in a bottle trashpit one time I found a beautiful officers spur. One more very interesting item I found in a trash pit was a hardrubber two piece soap dish with (dont give up the ship, w/anchor) embossed on the lid, with the goodyear 1851 patent on the bottom & the mirror inside the lid still intact. There are for sure other CW relics I have found, but it has been a long time!!! Believe it or not, I have dug even more rev war & war of 1812 relics, than I have CW.  Hope I didnt bore you to death with this Wink

Bore me to death reading about finds - hardly!  Smiley My fav was the heart shaped coin - really cool find. To have found even more Rev & 1812 relics, you've been at it awhile, huh? Sounds like you have done plenty of research.  Good luck in MO. Sue
