Went to explore a new location in the woods and after finding the old lost trail, found two pieces that need ID and dating to more or less assess the timeframe of the trail. I know one piece is a horseshoe (12" deep), but can't figure how old or for what type of beast, horse or mule. The other piece looks like an old button or a pin. Any takers?

The third picture looks like the old brass shotgun shell heads from the old paper shells. I found a few of them this year. Is there a hole in the center of it? Just a thought Wink................Warren

The horse shoe looks like a mule shoe to me it is more round then most horses I find. The button don't look that old to me but is very interesting  let me know what you find out about it.

Hey Cyber, better watch out you'll start picking up iron like me. That shoe looks like mine a little, some of mine are three inches in the middle.
