Bowbender:
Need help ID a token(?).
I just found a disc about the size of a quarter.
A bust facing left of Zach Taylor with 1845 to the left of the bust and 1850 to the right just above the head.

On the back:
"Rough and ready, A soldier in war 1812, also in b????K hawk, Seminole and Mexican wars,
forty years mill????"
Circling the coin most can't be read but zach??? , hero, Mex??? is all I can make out.
Anybody have any idea what I have???  (?= can't read)

Hi Bowbender,

congrats on your find!

Do you happen to have an image of the item in question? It might help others to identify it.

Regards,

Christian

PS: I have moved your post to the Relics board

H Christian:
THanks for the reply  and advice.
I'm working on the picture and posting.
Probably won't happen till this evening.
I can't get too excited.  It probably will end up as a Cracker Jacks prize.

ArfieBoy:
I as going to ask you to post a picture, but see you're already considering that.

I think what you've got is a token from a gas company promotion.  About 30 years ago one of the big companies promoted a selection of Presidential tokens to draw business into their stations.  I have a set of them around in storage somewhere.  The tokens were gold (or bronze) colored.  Zachary Taylor was in the Black Hawk Indian wars besides the others you mentioned.  Lincoln also was in the Black Hawk wars.

Hi Arfieboy:
THanks for the reply and guess as to what I have.
It looks like I was right. A Cracker Jacks prize, at best.

Bowbender:
Here is the front and back of the Zachary Taylor coin.  Can you please tell me about this coin?

We were able to post the pictures after we reduced the pixels.  Hopefully there's enough detail left for someone to help tell me about the coin.
