Hello, my name is Dean and I am on several relic hunting sites worldwide. If you find anything Military, buttons, badges ect and you are unsure of what they are, please post a photo here and I will try to help with the ID.
I have a large collection of dug Military relics.
I use them when I put on the Nov 11th Rememberance display here in my hometown as well as the annual "Camp X" event and other Historical Society showings.
I am always interested in aquirering other dug up military relics for these displays...I will buy, trade of take donations for the Historical Society that I work with..

Thank you and good luck with this forum!!!

Dean

Hello Dean, I have some miliatary buttons that look pre 1850 to me and are of European origin. Do you think you might help identifying them when I post some pictures? Thank you!

I may be able to help as I do have a bit of a collection of referance books.
I just ordered a book from Germany that lists German/Prussion buttons 1801- WW2  weighs 2 1/2 Kilos!!

Also have books on British and American buttons 1700s on.
Post them and lets see how it goes.

One thing I alway ask to help with ID.
I need photos of the front and back..also a ruler for scale..prefer inches if possible..we use the metric system here in Canada...but after 20 odd years I still prefer inches, feet, yards, miles ect.

Please don't use coins of ID as I don't know the size of Europian coins..the guys in the UK do that to me all the time... If nothing else I can usually date a button by the way it's made.

I am looking for more books to ID these types of items..but they are hard to find and rather expensive when you do find them.

Dean

Dean,
I too have found and  Id'd for otheres many
buttons but all of US origin. My expertise is in the
buttons of the USA and have a large library for
Identification..even with that I still have folks show me items I have never seen and are not in the books. usually variations but sometime newly discovered varietys...I would love to know more of the european military items, but not much use to me here........Dondigger

Have not seen these before, any ideas?  They come from a camp that was in force here in SW New Mexico 1908-1913 or so

five pointed star, whereas a lot of the other stuff here has six pointed stars on it.

They look like they could be off some sort of bags since they are larger than 1 1/2 inches.  Maybe a map case or saddlebags.  Just a guess though
