Go Up Go Down

Been detecting for 2 months now.

I found a shell in my garden that I can't identify. It has a headstamp 88-13, when I google it mauser shows up, but I can't find a matching headstamp, might also be something else. It does match in measurement and profile to a mauser shell.

The tips I found scanning a rocky side of the kruger reef. They seem to be from the larger Lee Metford .303 bullets.

I cleaned a dysfigured one to see their surface, copper plated cast.

You'll get tired of finding them in no time at all mate I have even found live rounds at a British site.

My first Boor war relics

Hmmm, seems to me most wars have at least one set of "Boors" and many are caused by boorish behavior on both sides  Smiley

And even if you do find lots of rounds from the Boer wars like X says, you may find yourself getting thrilled with all of them.   I've got a friend who actually enjoys going out to an 1870-1890 firing range and detecting for spent ammunition and casings.  And I have to admit that spent lead gives a nice distinct sound when you pass a coil over it.

Congrats,

BA

Grin Grin Hell have you seen how many words are spelled differently in US English from UK English OK here is one Carburettor (UK Collins dictionary )  Carburetor  (USA) also there is no miss spelling of a name (Stupid if you ask me) Xavier, zavier, Javier Hell I like my name with an X  Grin The word Door really gets me why do we say pool if we say Door or visa versa and why do we say Theodore and not Theodoor  Grin Grin this could be fun

So Boer could be Boor, Bour or Boer but only if it were a Name LOL but when I think about it Boer is a name as it is the name of what that person dose Like Mr Carpenter

yeah, I know, but to be honest, the English word boor (a rude, unmannerly person or a country bumpkin) does go back way before the Boer wars and reflects the common ancestry between English and Dutch and the relations between England and the Netherlands during the post Armada period.

That's why If I had to migrate. I'd rather go to South America, and join the pumpkin launch festival. Kiss
