This is one of my favorite relic finds. A Napoleonic belt buckle displaying a lion with nice gold plating. Just a pitty it's damaged.

Would you tell the general area that it came from?

Helo Dave,

I found this buckle just about 1 km from where I live when I was still in High School. Unfortunately it is still the only one so far.

But I will soon go to Zusmarshausen!

Regards,

Christian

Christian,
I will try to find the book that talked about Zusmarshausen.  The book is in German and was written before WWII as evidenced by the swastica on the inside cover.  Unfortunately, I didn't write down the call numbers so I will need to search quite a bit.

Dave, thanks for looking up the book. The older the book and the rarer it is, the more valuebale it is for finding a good site in my oppinion. We have worked a lot with topographical maps in the past but as they are avaiolable in any book shop, the areas they listed have allready been detected quite frequently.
