I found three of these within 8" of each other and down about 6". After cleaning them off a little I tested them for silver and Gold. When I scratched the inside it came up positive for 14K, when I did the rough side it came up silver. Now excited as I am I run to the Gold shop and the lady test it for 14K and says wow this is real ,Now I think I'm having one of my poor wife's Hot Flashes !! She weighs them and says OK i will pay you 1200.00 dollars.
Now comes the bad part, she informs me that she has to go to the bank and we could wait there till she comes back with the cash. We said ok so as she is walking out the door to go to the bank she stops ,and says ,maybe I should call my boss because these are so old I have never seen anything like this. Well she called, he say's wait don't pay yet, send me a piece and I will X ray it with my new 10,000 X ray machine. So she mails him the bottom piece and I take the rest home. We wait a week and call back her boss is out of town,another week her boss is unavailable the third week I get a hold of him and he says it was nothing but an old stone and he threw it out. Wow Now I am freaking out and he promises me he will find it and return it to me. Two more weeks go by So I drive to his shop...CLOSED UP..

So I still do not know what I have, I got sick and haven't had a chance to take them anywhere else so I thought I would show you what they are and perhaps someone could tell me  if they have ever seen anything like them.

What has me going BA, is I found them about 50 yards from the Ponce de León trail that is right by my home....

Nice find!

Pity about the one that got thrown away, had no right doing that.

you might have found spanish slave currency, indicated by the trail you found them on.

he believed he finally found the island that the fountain of youth was on, their was also mention that he accompanied christopher columbus on his journey to the new world.

14k gold and silver, be careful who you get to value them! not sure if you have antiquity laws there, they might still be owned by the spanish royal family.

Excuse me, but a) we don't know if he threw it away and b) if "the bosss" did throw away what the employee gave him, we don't know that the employee gave him the same item she received from captnbad.

Hate to be a sour Puss but that looks nothing like a peace of Eight or a Cob.   Could be some Dore Bar!  That could account for the Two sides of it being different make up.

First, were you hunting in an area that you shouldn't have, being close to the trail as you were.  If that's cool then involve the authorities cause this clown has ripped you off of some serious money.  Second I've never seen gold take on that color, even gold that's been in the briny deep for hundreds of years is uncorroded and shiny.  Third take another one to a reputable metallurgist and ask them what it is, it might cost you a little to find out then you will know of what the creep ripped you off.

Hi Gramps. no I was not on unauthorized land. I have been on a logging trail for over two years and pulling up railroad iron from the 1800s daily. it all started on my own property then found some old maps and started following. I  am working on a 40 acre farm that they let me on, as long as I cover all my holes, which I do anyway...

Believe me if these turn out to be anything I will have Police all over this guy.
