How shocking! Imagine how many muskets are running around without the family jewels.

Nice finds, Johnnn! Lots of history there.

 Most of our sites are now under pavement the good old days when we could access any piece of rough ground are gone!
The remaining sites are very closly garded and one of those is about to become "OFF LIMITS" due to "big money" buying it for some venture we will not have time to clear it.
Most of our hunting was on private land in the back bush behind an old fort in Ont.
The howitzer shell was fortunately almost full of water when it was dug so I was able to us a power saw to cut out a pie shaped piece safely, the black powder when dried out still ignites........."don't try this sort of thing unless you are absolutly sure its safe"

johnnn;

Tell us how you know such a specific date as 1812??

Is there something you are not telling?

Are those cannon balls from our side? or their side? Or is it an us/them situation, at all?

Obviously not all the finds are 1812, but as I have researched all area's of confrontation most of these relics are from that period although I have found many silver coins from later periods which just tells that the area's were used by other folk in times past.
The connon balls are all 1812 and could be US or CAN/BRIT the buttons speak for themselvs there are so many US buttons on Canadian soil and in locations where skirmishing and camps were.
As I have not been on this site before and I know you haven't seen this stuff I will gradually go through it and post pics till you have seen it all"may take some time", I see some interesting things from other members also.........Johnnn
