Hi Chritian, thats a good question I will weigh them and get back to you with that info, I do know that the Brown Bess ball are one ounce but the US callibre is smaller, it would have been easy if they were all B.B as I know I now have a total of 9000 ball "anyone good at math?" that will give you an average weight.
Here's a few more pics the cannonballs are as dug I found them all the same day as you will see they are different callibres the other pic is as found at another time, the detector in the pic is a British "C-Scope",I have since taken back to the UK and use it as my UK machine when I'm over visiting........Thanks for looking..Johnnn

OOPS!! I will send on the other pic later the Bayonets are ..The rusty one is 1812 I was quite thrilled to dig that up although it is in very bad shape, now the other one believe it or not I bought at a garage sale it is perfect and dated 1845.

Hello Johnnn . Excellent finds !! The relics you are finding date back a long time . Were the silver coins found in the same area and were they found without changing search coils or the Detector control settings ? "All Metal" Mode ?  Thank-You for posting .
HH...........Regards.........Eugene

Hi Eugene,
Most of the coinage from this period were from locations that were very active back in 1812 as I said they are fast disappering, and the funny thing is that from this period I have actually found more silver than copper, the ratio is not usually that way.
It is always best to hunt in all metals when you are looking for relics, although its hard to disc out a cannonball, my current machine of chioce is a Tesoro as I have had both Carpall Tunnels released swinging a heavy machine around is tiresome this machine is Great it is as good as anything I,ve used in the past rule of thumb at these locations, we use the good old Musket Ball as a guide they are always about 8"/10" deep and I have no trouble locating them.
I do not have a "change"coil........Here are a few more pics the cannonballs were found the same day..The tomohawk/trade axe was found by my detecting buddy.........Good hunting   Johnnn

WoW nice finds....... Nice Axe.... Were these found in the same area? I couldn't imagine being hit by the axe or stabbed by one of those bayonet?s... wonder if and how many soldiers were killed by them?

johnnn;

OK, I have a problem with 1812.... I was taught, in school, that the invading forces never made it across the lake and in fact, at least one ship was sunk (found recently.)  Detecting

Are you sure there is not another 'history' to these buttons? It is also my understanding that it was not an "official" invasion, but a bunch, something like Acorn is aiming to be.  Rider

Are you suggesting our history has been messed with? I'm shocked!  Shocked  Shocked

Keep em coming.

War has a way of spilling out all over the place.
One of the best places to hunt would be the training
camps. Those would not be at the battle sites.

Also forts, staging areas, road houses would be great.
Any where that activities went on.

Happy Hunting,

Tabdog
