MrSimpson:
Hi,

around Nuremberg there were several small fightings end of 1945. Last autum we went to a forest area where normaly mediaval finds are made. Near of the rock at the first pic we found this US Army Grenade, which is still in an amazing good condition.
We found out that on top of this hills some Waffen SS guys tried to stop the US Army  [idiot]

I think that one us soldier lost this grenade while he was trieing to get up the hill.

Of course we called the police and they picked it up some days later.

Wow, that is in good shape.  I had found an WWII Anti-Tank round earlier this month, in a neighbors yard here in the USA.  No idea how it got there, but it was inert.

It does look like a good spot to find things.  Thanks for sharing!!

Yes, in some areas in Germany and throughout Europe you can still find those spoils of wear. The grenade is still in excellent shape! I wonder if would still have been fully functional.

Best wishes,

Christian

The police no doubt detonated it as that is far easier and safer than taking it apart. One could inquire by phone.

The chances that this was still fully functional are 99,99% !! When you consider that I had a whole row of S mine go off after a hare scared and ran into them when I was searching a field in the Benelux in the 70?s, and in also stuff from WW I is still going off regular, not to mention stuff in the States from the Civil War there, when people try to disarm it (If it?s been kept dry).
So be carefull out there.

Nice find.  Did you happen to find anything else in that area?
