That explains the swastika on the medal being blotted out, I guess!  Anyway, it is a great piece.  I'm not a WWII collector, but I wouldn't mind having a few pieces.  Thanks for sharing it.  Bavarian, huh?  Could have fooled me.  I know lots of Americans who make many more spelling mistakes that you do Christian!    Detecting

Yeah, I remember visiting Heidelberg during the 70's and going to USAEUR (US Army Europe) headquarters which was in an old German Kaserne (some really nice stone-work murals on some of the buildings). The entry gates had stone eagles with metal shields attached to them.  Peer behind the shields, and what did you see.............swastikas.
